Targeted at 'the Internet of Things', the OS inherited many features from Brillo, at the same time reintroducing the most popular programming tools, like the app building platforms for Android SDK and Android Studio, Google Play Services, and Google Cloud (some experts link the commercial failure of Brillo to its incompatibility with these services). Now, Android Things will also allow Brillo to integrate its services into the new platform.
One of the hallmarks of the new OS compared to Android and Android Wear is hidden graphic interface. While remaining invisible to the user, the platform effectively supports a wide range of 'clever' devices, from microwaves and routers to climate control and tracking systems. The developer promises a clear and user-friendly app supported on smartphones and tablets that is expected to completely reform user experience. The launching is anticipated in the first half of 2017, the exact dates will be announced soon.
