Amazon Prime Video ready to conquer Russian market

The Netflix's biggest rival starts steaming in 200 countries including Russia.

Prime Video that has been operating for 10 years in the USA is ready for global broadcasting. The projected coverage is 200 countries - whereas Netflix is running in 'only' 134 countries.

What must attract Russian viewers the most is a chance to watch The Grand Tour - a motoring series by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May that they created after leaving Top Gear in 2015; and many other highest rated tv shows like Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent, and The Man in the High Castle.

However, most users will probably have to wait for localization - the service will start off with English broadcasting only, and a limited choice of subtitles (English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese).

The subscription will start at €2,99 during the first 6 months with a 1-week free trail. After 6 months, monthly price will double up to €5,99. The broadcast will be available on smartphones through the Prime Video app, and on personal computers and TVs that support Smart TV. The service will also allow to download videos to watch offline.
