The developer intends to use two types of processors, Intel and Baikal-M (designed by Baikal Electronics). By using local components, T-Platforms wants to ensure the highest level of safety for its product and also support the national hardware industry. With preinstalled Linux OS, the new device will also support a more popular Windows 10 – to minimize the trouble for the users if they want to migrate.
The pilot batch of the super-strong laptops with Intel processes is expected to be shipped in about a year. This should satisfy customers for the 3-4 year “transition period” while Baikal-M undergoes some final modifications. According to T-Platforms, it will switch to local components in the second half of 2017.
